feed him a little more then usual my goldfish did the same thing i usually gave it a midnight snack and also got another fish for a friend it worked out pretty well after that so maybe thats your solution

Is this the only fish you have? It needs a friend. Buy another goldfish.
Add some clove oil to the tank before you sleep. Watch he doesn't drown :) as he'll pass out.
