The chemistry just might not be there.

A couple of ideas to help stimulate breeding. For a couple of weeks, feed them a lot of live black worms regularly; get them good and fat. Over that couple of week time frame, slowly raise the temp in the tank, maybe 1 degree every couple of days. Get it up to 82-84 degrees.

Once you have gotten them fat and happy, start changing 10% of the water every day for a couple of days. Make the new water just slightly cooler than the current tank water. Also add about 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon of the new water when you add it.

If that doesn't do it, I suggest taking the advise of the previous poster and try Tequilla shots and Barry White.
Ask the Vet or the Pet store People they will answer all your questions i had the exact same problem!
Quit staring at them, maybe they're shy and need privacy. Add a little tequila maybe lol, just kidding. Give them time, maybe they're still too young.
Because they don't want to become pregnant.
Platies need to be in a certain environment, like all fishes do. If the environment is not their type, they won't be comfortable laying their offspring. They also need to be adult platies.
platies don't need any special environment to breed. Chances are they are not mature enough yet to do so. Are you sure you have 2 males and 2 females?
