How do I keep a goldfish alive in a bowl for a couple of days?

My goldfish has been in this 1 gallon bowl for about 3 weeks. He has been doing fine until last night after the 50% water change he started to stay at the bottom and seems to have a problem swimming up to leaving the ground. I am going to get a 10 gallon tank on thursday (2 days) and a filter. I have a pump in the bowl already which I'll transfer over to the tank. But he'll have to live in the bowl for another 4 days since getting the tank and cycle it for 2 days before I put him in.How can I make sure he survives these couple of days??
Answers:
because he became ill when you did a water change, this probably means its a PH problem.

the PH for goldfish is 7-8.

the PH of tap water fluctuates every day... so every single time you do a water change, you need to check the PH of the water you are about to put in and make sure its the same as in the tank.

PH fluctuations will give fish symptoms like this and will kill them.

fix the PH right away - you can get a tester kit and PH up/down from your local petstore.
.
it might be the water? is it treated?
all you really can do is monitor the temp, feed regularly, and try not to stress him out (no more cleaning the bowl until he moves, no taping on the glass, no adding tank mates for awhile, jsut let him be)
good luck
Do not worry about him not swimming up. When fish are ill they try to jump out of the tank. Keep on doing the same procedure you have done up to now. And good luck!
A goldfish shouldn't be confined in such a small space. The rule is 1 inch per 2 gallons. But since it will be there for for 4 days it should be fine. I would transfer the water from the old tank to the bowl because it needs the good bacteria to survive. You can also take in a water sample to your local pet store to make sure that its ok. Most places do the test for free. Make sure to put a water conditioner in your water it should help. Hope this helps and good luck!
Your PH is fine in the bowl. Goldfish are hearty fish. your fish needs a well balanced diet and lots of dissolved oxygen. Try feeding him veggies, like peas, lettuce, duckweed, etc.

Also, be sure his bowl isn't near sun or heat. Goldfish like it cool.

Also 2 days is not nearly long enough to cycle your 10 gallon tank. It really should run for a week or until the water quality is normal, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.
