The first thing you need to do is identify where the leak is on the tank. Tank the tank outside to a very level and flat place and carefully fill it with water being careful not st get water on the outside of the tank. Once you can see the leak (or leaks) mark them with something like a crayon and drain the tank. Next you need to remove the silicon ( the rubbery stuff that hold the seals together) along the leaky side or bottom seam. Use a razor blade to scrape off as much as you can.

Any aquarium store or hardware store sells what you need to seal it. The aquarium store will call it aquarium sealant and the hardware store will call it pure 100% silicon caulk. If you get it from the hardware store be sure the tube says it's aquarium safe. GE brand is one brand I know to be safe. Just apply the sealant just as you would caulk along the cleaned off leaky side and overlap to the connecting sides. I'm sure your pawpaw will be able to help with this. Allow the sealant to dry according to the directions on the tube and then test it for leaks again. This usually works on the very first try.

Hope that helps

They have aquarium sealants at the fish store.
Another choice is silicon sealants you can buy at Home Depot, etc. Just make sure you get one that says it's aquarium safe in the description as there are many different types.
WalMart sells aquarium glue. I've used it ALOT of times... It works and no deadness. wait 48 hours though to fill with water
i would not under any circumstance take someones used tank , if its leaking , you may wind up spending more then the tanks is worth trying to fix it , and you may not beable to seal it properly, and then you have a time (water ) bomb on your hands..
tape then buy new 1
Yes. Buy A New Tank For The Fish.
Here's a good product-http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr...

This tank IS glass correct? If it is acrylic the silicon alone won't hold.
NEW TANK!
unless the tank is really big for get it. a new fish tank can be had for about $2 a gal. and you can get a used one for next to nothing that has everything
you can only use aquariam silicone it wont harm your fish when its dry others will kill them
go to a fish store and get some aquarium sealant it is clear and the package will have instructions on how to repair
