How many eggs does a flowerhorn lay??how many will survive??

Answers:
They can lay up to 1000 eggs at a time on a flat surface. Both parents guard the eggs aggressively. The fry become free swimming 5 days after hatching, and you can start feeding them small foods at this time. Not more than 5% eggs hatch into babies even in the hands of a professional, as this fish is a hybreed, and thus hatching rate is weak compared to other fishes.

Water temperatures of about 76oC and 78oC and alkaline, hard water will aid in flowerhorn cichlid breeding. The maintenance of a steady temperature will aid in the hatching of the eggs.
This will depend on the size, age, and condition of the fish, but a female can lay 500-2,000 eggs at a time.

How many will survive? There are too many variables to predict that - some eggs may not be fertilized, so you might lose some that way. If the parents are young and inexperienced, they might eat them the eggs the first few times they're laid. Depending on the tank size any your filtration/commitment to maintenance you might lose some to poor water quality or disease. If some fry outgrow others from the same brood, the larger fry may put too much feeding pressure on the smaller ones and they could die from insufficient food.
