How long do koi fish live?

Answers:
Koi can live hundreds if years (like turtles).

But as someone else said, most people keep them in ponds, so it stunts their growth, and they won't live as long.

In a lake, they will grow 3 feet long!

They can live up to 20 years if taken good care of.
Till they stop breathing.
i read on a web site somewhere that they can live up to 200 years
www.liveaquaria.com
i think it was here
Properly taken care of koi can live hundreds of years and can grow 3 feet long. Koi that are kept in tanks or small ponds will live very shortened and probably painful (from being stunted) deaths.
I believe that they last for about 30 to 40 years in the correct environment and if they are looked after.

I have koi and this is what i was told when purchasing them!
if koi are looked after properly they reach an age between 30 and 40 years. there are claims of koi living anything up to 200, but no evidence( technically known as bullshit!)
Around 40 years i would say, my fish are massive, they have lived for over 10 years so far.
