How long does it take green water in a fish pond to clear is there anything to speed up the process thanks?

any help or guide lines please

I take it you mean the colour as opposed to Algae.
The following will help the water to clear eventually.

1. Plant ratio to pond water should be 3/4 coverage to prevent sunlight turning the water green or murky. With good oxygenating plants for the fish and to keep the water quality A1.

2. In the spring it is good idea to introduce pond start or a similar product to put the little bugs back into the water after the winter. These help to clear the water.

3. Make sure your PH balance is right in the pond you can buy a kit to test it.

4. When you start feeding the fish again make sure you clear any uneaten food from the pond

5. Make sure you have a UV filter on your filter inlet pipe.

6. Do not do a complete water change as you will dimish the little microbs in the water (little bugs).

If you follow all this advice you will eventually get crystal clear water. However, if after two weeks you do not see a marked improvement then get some more wee bugs.

The best advice of all if you clean the filter do so in a bucket of pond water and under no circumstances do you ever clean it in fresh tap water (kills of all those wee bugs. Not unless of course you are giving the pond a complete empty, overall and clean...once in every six years is sufficient.

To keep the algae at bay throw in some barley straw or pellets this atracks the algae and kills it off.

You will be so pleased when the water clears it is just fantastic to see the fish swimming about in clear water.

Heres to you and your Oscars...thats what I called my fish all of them.
In my opinion is takes about 6 weeks. It depends on the turnover of the water though.
you can buy capsules that you put in the fiter box to speed up the bacteria that gets rid of the green .either way it generally takes a few days.get more plants that cover the surface area to block out the light ie water lillies
Go to your local Pond shop or pet store..there are several products you can add to your pond to handle this problem.
One of the best (and quickest) water purifiers is barley straw. Buy some from your local aquarium shop and suspend it in the pump outflow. The water will clear within about 2 - 3 weeks, and stay clear. You'll need to change the straw every 6 months or so.
Green water is caused by algae which barley straw destroys.
