How long do fishes lives in plastic bags ?

ok this might sound silly but i truely don't know the answer.

uhmm i bought 2 females fighting fishes and planning to give them to my girlfriend.

They are still both in the plastic bag which is haft way water and haft air. ( you know what i mean, they are still in the condition that the pet store owner gave me )

i would like to give it to my girlfriend 8 hours later.

Do you guys think that the fishes will live by then? or do i need to put them in the tank 1st and drop them back in the plastic bag again when i give it to her?

How long do they live for? ( in the plastic bag ) sorry i'm very new at this.

I hope you guys would help me >_%26lt; thanks in advance
Answers:
Fish are often shipped from over seas in small bags, especially bettas. I personally have seen bettas live in a small bag for 6-7 days. If it's even a medium sized bag they should be just fine.

Idk
but its fun to shake them in the bag
You should be good for many hours, maybe a day or so. We've had ours un a bag for the best part of a day while we set up the tank and stuff, no harm.
Take them out as soon as you can, put them in a clean glass jar with the same water as in the bag.
Then put them back in the bag just before you give them to your girlfriend if you have to.
Preferably, give them to her in the jar.
They will run out of air quite quickly.
Just make sure the bag of water always has air in it and they should be fine.
When they start breading themselves, then you'll know it's been too long and if they start crawling to the freezer after that, forget it.

Honestly, you should call the pet store where you got them and ask. Maybe there is some type of guarantee on them if they don't make it before a certain time period is up.
When they are captured in the wild, they can generally live 1-2 weeks in the bag. I suspect it's a non-issue for you.
Fish can live for about two days in a plastic bag, but it would make them happy if you opened the bag a tine bit if they are just sitting around right now.

They will be fine for 8 hours.
The fish will not survive in a plastic bag for 8 hrs, maybe they'll survive for around 1 hr. You need to put them in a tank %26 then put them back in a bag just before you give them to her. I hope your not planning on having these fish in the same tank together - fighting fish cannot be in the same tank or they will kill eachother - only 1 per tank.
not for long mebbe two hours but not eight,if I were you I would put them in the tank and if its possible give the tank and the fishes to your gf.
Well, i was buying a tank for my fishes and it took me an hour. I returned and one of them died... I guess you need one of those oxygen stuff..
There's only so much oxygen in the bag. Betta need a fresh air source, just undo the rubber band on the bags and put the whole bag in a cup or tupperwear container so the water doesn't spill. Bettas have lungs so they'll go up to the surface to breath. Close the bag up to transport them when you're ready.
The way professionals can keep fish alive in plastic bags for many days is that they fill the bags with water and oxygen, not just water and air. Water and air will support them for a matter of hours, not days.
I breed fish, and have bagged many thousands. 8 hours is a piece of cake, no need for O2.
if the local fish store put some oxygen into the bag you are perfectly fine. they only thing that you will need to worry about is making sure that the temperature of the bag will not fluctuate too much. although bettas are very hardy, they are still susceptible to stress.
It should be fine for a few hours, but when you give them to your girlfriend, ensure they are put into her tank there and then.

:)
I've been in this position lol, nd to cause minimum stress (so by the next morning the fish won't be dead) then no more than 3 hours 4 at a maximum. If you out them in gthe tank first it would be better.
