How long does a tadpole take to turn into a frog?

Tadpoles have their legs by about 9 weeks old,they are then called Froglets,the tail is then slowly absorbed.The whole metamorphosis usually takes 12 - 16 weeks. Climate and water temperature have a lot to do with this process. Some frogs and toads that live in colder climates may stay tadpoles longer, evening overwintering in this stage until spring.

It's a gradual process. Takes from 9 to 12 weeks. Not all tadpoles turn into little frogs. Some seem to remain as tadpoles until the cold weather when they die.Once the little frogs have completed their change they will not want to be in the pond all the time. They will need to be able to get out of the water so it sometimes is necessary to construct a simple ramp of a piece of wood or similar for them.They will spend a lot of their time in the summer in the long grass catching insects etc.They should not need feeding. There should be sufficient natural food in the pond for them.
