How can I tell the difference between tadpoles and mosquito larvae? I don't want to kill any tadpoles!?
Answers:
Mosquito larvae have hairs on their bodies: http://www.arbovirus.health.nsw.gov.au/a... and the are less than 1/2 inch long. They have to come to the surface to breathe: http://www.arbovirus.health.nsw.gov.au/m... .
Tadpoles aren't hairy and will usually be bigger, although a few are small. The small ones will bee black: http://abc.net.au/science/scribblygum/ju... , but bigger ones are usually brown or gray: http://www.marcusandmeagan.com/pics/tadp...
Mosquito larva look more like worms.
why would there by mosquito larvae in an aquarium?
Larvae look like thin wiggly worms, tadpoles look like fat little gray fish
Mosquito larvae look like little worms that usually sit at the top of the water until it's disturbed, then they wiggle down. Tadpoles are much larger and look like a giant comma-- they have kind of round bodies with a tail like an eel.
we use to find tadpoles all the time and before they hatched they were in a slimmy clear ball with black speck which are the unhatch tadpoles. mosquitoes when they hatch look like worms and tadpoles have a bigger body.
Uh don't the tadpoles eventually eat the Mosquito Larve? When they mature??? Just keep them together! Unless your fishing for tadploes! Then usually tadploes have round heads, and a long tail, and are somewhat transparent in their natural enviornment. Mosquito larve are usually found in in pods floating they are very hard to see.
Tadpoles are black, mosquito larvae are white and worm-shaped. Mosquitos will hover vertically at the surface, tails up, because that is how they breathe. Tadpoles will actually swim, while the larvae mostly just wriggle about.
tadpoles look like sperms, and mosquito larvae look like small worms.
